from Osmocon Video Part 2: 01:18:38 - 01:46:14

tl;dr

Commonwealth and governance tools: Commonwealth will be continuing to roll out new tools, like crowd-funding, and a mobile-app featuring push notifications that can be subscribed to by governance topic, so that not all users have to read all governance posts. Other areas of research / potential future integrations include sybil resistant voting (using, e.g., Twitter attestations) and quadratic voting.

George Beall suggests that Osmosis could benefit from more structure and formal process rules in the forums and in governance, taking as an example fellow Commonwealth user (and soon-to-be fellow Cosmos app-chain), dYdX. George from Commonwealth is a big fan of the simplest possible governance, and a DAO hub-and-spoke model, much like Osmosis is already using with the Support, Marketing, and Grants subDAOs. More subDAOs should develop as the community/DAO desires.

[This wasn’t in the chat, but it will be interesting to see how apps built on top of Osmosis governance that have their own governance will act as subDAOs of Osmosis (and whether the interests will always be harmonized, particularly when they spin off into their own appchains.]

Working in a subDAO: everyone agrees that to join a subDAO, just involve yourself in the community, take an interest, share where you can, and you will build up a reputation as someone who helps. opportunities will come your bc the DAO and the subDAOs almost always need more help, and new governance groups often spin up.

Coordinating across time zones and different work schedules can be difficult, but having regular structure helps, as does recruiting skilled, enthusiastic contributors.

Intros:

Mike - with the Osmosis Support Lab (OSL), a subDAO supported by the Osmosis Community Pool. Roadmap is to build support systems for the Osmosis DEX. Support Site is out with how-to videos, FAQs, and live 24/7 chat with one of our support admins.

Stephen94K - with Osmosis Ministry of Marketing, also community-funded, just passed second round of funding. Funded meme comp’s and events like Permissionless, Consensus, etc., as well as various PR and education efforts.

EmperorOSMO @Flowslikeosmo - right now focused on governance and safety dashboards for Osmosis

George @GeorgePBeall - we’re the governance for Osmosis and many other Cosmos chains. We do end-to-end DAO tooling: DAO creation, governance and discussion, and about to launch crowd-funding. Love the Osmosis community.
